A former Cu-Ag-Zn-Pb-Au mine located in the SE¼ sec. 12, sec. 13 and in the NE¼ sec. 24, T13N, R6E, MDM, 1.0 km (0.6 mile) NW of Kilaga Springs and 10.0 km (6.2 miles) NNE of Lincoln, on private (patented) land. Discovered in 1852. Owned by Landis and Gaylord of Auburn, California (1977). Operated by Goodwin Trent (lessee), California (1977). Operated in 1912, 1917, and during the period 1942 to 1943. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schistose quartz porphyry in schist. The ore body strikes N60W and dips 72NE at a thickness of 9.14 meters, width of 11 meters, and a depth-to-top of 30.48 meters. It is an irregularly shaped replacement deposit. The primary mode of origin was hydrothermal and the secondary mode was contact metasomatic. The primary ore control was faulting and the secondary mode was fracturing. The schist strikes N48W and dips 76NE in the open pit. Associated rocks include an andesite dike. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
The lode is indicated by gossan on the surface. It is reported to be 200 feet wide and 1,000 feet long. A 100 foot andesite dike, striking N80W and dipping 72NE is mineralized. The gossan extends to a depth of 100 feet where sulfides are encountered. Generally Au & Cu values decrease, while Zn values increase with depth.
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 85.34 meters and are comprised of 2 vertical shafts at 130 feet and 280 feet, respectively. One inclined shaft is 180 feet deep. There are 2 adits and an open pit.

production information: Ore from 1912 averaged 6%Cu, 0.312 ounce Au and 0.645 ounce Ag/ton. In 1917, the ore averaged 3.74% Cu, 0.161 ounce Au and 1.71 ounce Ag/ton. During the period 1942 to 1943, the ore averaged 1.37% Cu, 0.19 ounce Au and 2.18 ounce Ag per ton with recoverable Pb. Zn values were not reported.
