A former placer Au occurrence/hydraulic mine located in the NE¼SW¼ sec. 28, T15N, R10E, MDM, about 1.8 km WSW of Roach Hill, on the E wall of the canyon of the North Fork American River, about 2.3 km NNE of Iowa Hill. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100/500 meters (2 MRDS files).
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in serpentinite. The ore body strikes NNE and dips 50ESE at a thickness of 0.61 meter. The vein is 2 feet thick. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range) and/or Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an inclined shaft with at least 2 levels.
