A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the E½SW¼ sec. 32, T16N, R14E, MDM, 4.4 km (2.7 miles) NNE of Sunflower Hill (coordinates of record) and 9.3 km (5.8 miles) ENE of Canada Hill (coordinates of record) (Canada Hill District), on the N slope of Forest Hill Divide, along a N-flowing tributary of the North Fork American River, on private land within a National Forest area. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10034892 places this locality in the Tahoe District; however, Clark (1970a), the authoritative work on California gold mining districts, places it in the Canada Hill District.
Mineralization is hosted in diabase and porphyry. The ore body strikes NW and dips 30SW at a thickness of 1.22 meters. The vein is 12 inches (30 cm) to 4 feet (1.22 meters) thick. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 152.4 meters and an overall depth of 152.4 meters, and comprised of a shaft, incline and drifting.

production information: A few thousand dollars annually were produced during the period 1901 to 1905. Later production occurred during the period 1933 to 1934. Some oxidized ore yielded 2 to 3 ounces Au/ton.
