A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ (estimated) sec. 27, T15N, R13E, MDM, 3.5 km (2.2 miles) S of Duncan Peak, on the eastern slope of Mosquito Ridge along a SE-flowing tributary of Duncan Canyon, W of French Meadows Reservoir, on private land within a National Forest area. W of Duncan Canyon. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10034881 states that this mine is in the Canada Hill District; however, its location in relationship to Duncan Peak and the other mines in the Duncan Peak District place it in that district.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in porphyry and slate. The ore body strikes NW and dips 60NE at a thickness of 0.91 meter. The vein is 3 feet thick and carries 4% sulfides. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 182.88 meters and an overall depth of 53.95 meters and comprised of a shaft and a tunnel (adit ??).
