A former lode Au mine located in secs. 2, 3 & in the S½, NW¼ & NE¼ sec. 10, T15N, R12E, MDM, 3.1 km (1.9 miles) ESE of Westville (site), along Black Canyon, W of Macedon Ridge, on private land within a National Forest area. Property comprises 640 acres and includes the Galena, Patrick & Patrick Extension claims and the Tunnel Mine. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
NOTE: NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10034859 ascribes this locality to the Canada Hill District. This is in apparent error since Clark (1970a) specifies the extent of the Westville District as incorporating Macedon Ridge, which is located between Canada Hill on the East and this mine on the W.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate and quartzite. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 182.88 meters and an overall depth of 91.44 meters and comprised of a shaft and 2 tunnels (adits ?).
Analytical data results: Ore in chutes averaged $7/ton (period values) while overall ore averaged $3 (period values) per ton.
