A former lode Au-Cu-Pb occurrence/mine located in sec. 31, T16N, R8E, MDM, about 3.2 km SSE of Rough and Ready, just W of Deadman Flat, S of highway 20 (3½ miles W of Grass Valley). The property comprises 20 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Could be the same as the Robert Emmett Quartz Mine.
Mineralization is hosted in amphibolite, diorite and gabbro. The ore body strikes N30E and dips 65NW. Local alteration involves oxidation of the vein to a depth of 200 feet. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 457.2 meters and an overall depth of 73.15 meters and comprised of an incline, drifts and shafts.
Production data are found in: MacBoyle, Errol (1919).
Production statistics: Year: 1875 (accurate): 32 grams Au/metric ton. High assays were reported in the upper levels.
