A former Au mine located in sec. 3, T15N, R8E and in secs. 33 & 34, T16N, R8E, MDM, about 2.3 km (1.5 miles) SSW of Grass Valley proper, on private (patented) land. The property comprises 37.28 acres. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. Later incorporated into the Massachusetts Hill Mine, then into the North Star.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate. The ore body strikes E and dips 30S at a thickness of 0.3 meter. The vein averages 1 foot in thickness and carries 4.5% sulfides. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
