A former lode Cu-Au-Ag occurrence/mine located in sec. 27, T18N, R13E, MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 mile) SW of Summit City, WNW of Hartley Butte (9 miles N of Cisco), on National Forest land. Operated & owned by J. P. Clark and F. J. Cook (first year = 1908). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. This mine was worked 45 years prior to 1908.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in porphyry. The ore body strikes N85W and dips 72S at a thickness of 15.24 meters. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 5 (Northern Sierra Nevada and Eastern Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground opening comprised of a vertical shaft 32 feet deep, a 3-compartment vertical shaft at 125 feet, a 2-compartment vertical shaft at 105 feet, plus 200 feet of open cuts and a 30 foot adit on the vein.
Production of Cu was less than 100,000 pounds. Values reported were Cu at 5%, Au at $7 (period values) per ton and Ag at 3 ounces per ton.
