A lode Au-Ag-Cu-Pb occurrence located in secs. 4 & 5, T16N, R9E and in sec. 32, T17N, R9E, MDM, about 2.2 km N of Willow Valley (town) and about 4.3 km (2½ miles) ENE of Nevada City proper, on National Forest land. The property comprises 280 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granodiorite. There are 2 veins averaging 2 feet in thickness. A slate contact occurs 100 feet from the shaft (direction = ??). Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range)
Workings include underground openings with a length of 3,218.6 meters and an overall depth of 365.76 meters, and comprised of a shaft and an incline plus extensive workings.
Production data are found in: Goodwin, Joseph Grant (1957).
Production statistics: Year: 1941 (period = 1929 to 1941) (estimated): Cu = 1 metric ton; Pb = 5 metric tons. Average of $12 (period values) Au/ton. Total production was $600,000 (period values).
