A former Au-Pb mine located in sec. 27, T16N, R8E, MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 mile) NNE of Grass Valley (coordinates of record), on private (patented) land. The property comprises 11.51 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Also possibly in the NW¼ sec. 26.
Mineralization is hosted in serpentinite. The ore body strikes N80W and dips 65N at a thickness of 0.91 meter. The vein is 1 to 3 feet thick. Deposit lies near a contact with Calaveras slate. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 1,219.2 meters and an overall depth of 350.52 meters and comprised of an incline with extensive drifting.
Said to have produced $500,000 (period values).
