A former lode Au-Ag-Cu-Zn-Pb occurrence/mine located in secs. 25 & 36, T16N, R8E, MDM, about 4.0 km (2.4 miles) E of Grass Valley proper. The property comprises 27 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. The ore body strikes N50W and dips 40-70SW at a thickness of 1.52 meters. The vein is part of the Idaho-Maryland system and is a few inches to 5 feet thick, averaging 2 feet. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include surface and underground openings with a length of 1,219.2 meters and an overall depth of 410.57 meters and comprised of 2 shafts at 1,250 feet & 1,347 feet, respectively, plus extensive drifting and stoping.
Production data are found in: MacBoyle (1919), and in Johnston (1940).
Some Au-Ag production in 1953. In 1917 ores from the upper levels contained 1.6% sulfides, averaging 1.64 ounces Au/ton 2.0% sulfides from the upper levels averaged 2.8 ounces Au/ton.
