A Cu-Ag-Au-Pb (traces) occurrence/mine located in sec. 16, T3S, R31E (MDM), 4.7 km (2.9 miles) SSE of Banner Ridge (coordinates of record), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in rhyolite. The ore body strikes N15W and dips 80W at a thickness of 0.91 meters. The deposit consists of a quartz vein in sericite hornfels and porphyritic rhyolite. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 3 (Eastern Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a vertical 2-compartment shaft to a depth of 125 feet, then inclined 80 degrees for 185 feet. Levels were driven at the 125, 245, and 300 foot horizons. 250 feet of drifts were driven N and S of the shaft on the 300 foot level, also a crosscut E 770 feet.
Production information: Reportedly 5,000 tons of ore were developed from the workings - these will run $12 in Pb, Ag and Au (period values).
Analytical data results: 17% Pb, 26 ounces Ag/ton and $10 - $20 Au/ton.
