A former lode Au-Ag mine located in the SE¼ (estimated) sec. 8, and in the NW¼ (estimated) sec. 16, T3S, R31E, MDM, 0.9 km (3,000 feet) ENE of Banner Ridge (coordinates of record), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in granodiorite. The ore body strikes N and dips 70W at a thickness of 6.1 meters. The quartz is brecciated. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 13.72 meters. Openings include 3 tunnels, one 120 feet in length. A shaft was sunk to a depth of 45 feet, near the portal. A 70 foot tunnel with a 20 foot deep winze exists and, 40 feet below this, is a 300 foot tunnel. 200 feet from the portal there is a 78 foot winze with a drift at the bottom, plus a 30 foot crosscut.
Ore values reported to vary from $2 to $30 (ton ?) (period values).
