A former Pb-Ag-Au mine located in secs. 27 & 28, T10N, R22E, MDM, 7.8 km (4.8 miles) NNW of Topaz, along California Creek, W of Topaz Lake, on National Forest land. Produced during the period 1936 to 1947. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: The 2 MRDS files present differing sets of geographic coordinates, neither set of which placed the locality at the correct location on the topo map (adit symbol). The coordinates presented in this file correspond to the adit symbol.
Mineralization is a replacement type deposit. Local rocks include Cretaceous marine rocks (in part nonmarine), unit 2 (West Walker River).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of 3 inclined shafts, 3 tunnels and 2 twenty-five foot drifts and open cuts.
Production data are found in: Goodwin, J.G. (1957): 554.
Production information: Smelter recovery was 18% Pb, 26 ounces Ag/ton and 0.57 ounces Au/ton. Total production not known.
