A former lode Au-Cu mine located in sec. 15, T5S, R16E, MDM, 2.9 km (9,600 feet) NE of Quartz Mountain [2] and 3.3 km (2.1 miles) ESE of Hornitos. Property consists of 11.17 patented acres. Operated by Agnes McIver C/O E. F. Ducommun. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Probably part of the Number Nine Mine holdings.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with a series of parallel veins averaging 2 feet thick, hosted in porphyry and schist. The ore body is 1.52 meters thick. The hanging wall is porphyry and the footwall is schist. Aubury, (1904) and Bowen & Gray (1957) describe quartz-mica schist & massive quartz-mica rocks as wallrocks. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of an incline of unknown depth, pits, tunnels, shallow shafts and stopes.
production information: 75 tons ore on dump (1954).
