A former lode Au mine located in secs. 12 & 13, T5S, R17E, MDM, 1.3 km (4,400 feet) WNW of Mount Bullion, along Green Gulch. Discovered in 1855. Operated in the 1860's and during the period 1901-1914. Operated by the Mariposa Commercial and Mining Co. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. This mine is one of the Las Mariposas grant mines.

NOTE: The stream is named "Green Gulch" on the topo maps and in the USGS GNIS database. Both MRDS database files call it "Greens Gulch."

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in Late Jurassic slate. The ore body strikes N52.5W and dips steeply E. A broad vein is intersected by NE-trending cutter veins. The Mother Lode broad vein part of a series of NW-trending, en echelon Mother Lode veins, and is probably an extension of the Princeton Mine main vein. It averages 3 feet in thickness. The vein matter is principally milky quartz containing native gold and auriferous pyrite. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings comprised of a 300 foot shaft with 13 levels, a 550 foot adit level, 510 foot drift on the 1st. level, and 360 feet of drifts on the 2nd. level, plus crosscuts, raises and stopes.

Production data are found in: Bowen, O.E., Jr. & C.H. Gray, Jr. (1957).

Principal activity was in the 1860's and 1901-1914. Some work was done in 1941, but nothing since. Records show production from 1900 to 1915. Greens Gulch produced 10,625 tons of ore which yielded $119,140.70 (period values), averaging $10.25 (period values) per ton. During the same period, the Greens Extension produced 10.25 tons of ore from which $313.99 (period values) was realized, or $13.96 (period values) per ton.
