A former lode Au mine located in sec. 22, T3S, R19E, MDM, 0.4 km (1,300 feet) ESE of Clearing House (5 miles W of El Portal; a short distance from the Clearinghouse Mine), on National Forest land. Company controlled 14 claims (all here ??). Operated by the El Capitan Gold Mining Co. C/O James H. Eaton. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. May be the same vein as that in the nearby Hite Mine. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Some development work was carried on until 1927 on the vein.
