A Mn occurrence/prospect located in the NW¼ (probably) sec. 17, T4S, R19E, MDM, 2.1 km (6,800 feet) N of Sweetwater Point and 3.6 km (2.2 miles) NW of Jerseydale, along Sweetwater Creek (on the W bank of Sweetwater Creek 1/10 of a mile S of Donnelly Ranch house, 1 mile N of the Sweetwater gold mine), on National Forest land. Discovered in 1917. Property consisted of 4 claims. Operated by J. C. Donnelly (1942). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

The ore body is 0.15 meter thick. Pockets, lenses and stringers of Mn oxides occur in massive metachert (fine-grained quartzite) cut by gently-dipping quartz veins, and enclosed in sericite schist of the Calaveras series. The quartzite strikes N15W and dips 70W. The oxides include psilomelane and pyrolusite. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).

Workings include surface openings comprised of 1 open cut.

No record of production and no recent activity. Material assayed about 30% Mn.
