A former lode Au-Ag mine located in the SE¼ sec. 29 (estimated) and in the NW¼ sec. 33 (estimated), T4S, R17E, MDM, 2.4 km (7,800 feet) SSE of Bear Valley, along Bear Creek. Discovered in 1894. Owned by Ellen T. Simpson, et. al. Operated in 1902 & in the 1939-1940 period. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Formerly the Oyler lode on the Fremont grant. The total area covers 1½ miles of the lode.
Mineralization is a fissure vein deposit, with a vein less than 1 to 5 feet thick, hosted in Late Jurassic pyroxene andesite greenstones. The ore body is pinch & swell in form, strikes N35W and dips 60SW at a thickness of 1.52 meters. Controls for ore emplacement include a shear zone. The vein varies from less than a foot to 5 feet. The ore shoots are less than 30 feet in width (!) (probably length). 60% of Au is found in the sulfides. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings.

During operations, which began in 1902, official records indicate 59.1 tons of ore shipped which returned $756.78 (period values), or an average of $12.80 per ton (period values). During 1939 and 1940 some 393 tons of ore shipped and yielded 24 ounces Au and 7 ounces Ag. Idle since 1940.
