A former lode Au-Ag-Zn-Cu-Pb mine located in the SW¼ (estimated) sec. 28, and in the NW¼ (estimated) sec. 33, T2S, R16E, MDM, 2.5 km (8,400 feet) NW of Coulterville, along Blacks Creek, on private (patented) land. Discovered in 1855. Operated from 1878 to 1939. Property consists of 1 patented claim. Operated by Car Da Mining Co. and Adlaide M. Ray. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in serpentinite and greenstone. The ore body strikes N70W and dips 55NE at a thickness of 3.66 meters. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 60.96 meters and comprised of a 440 foot shaft with 4 levels, a 200 foot exit (escape) shaft, 2,000 feet of drifts, crosscuts and raises.

Active intermittently during the period 1878-1939. From 1900 recorded production was $150,000 - $200,000 (period values). In the fall of 1910 one mill cleanup from 250 tons of ore milled yielded $14,800 (period values). About 1914 several thousand dollars worth of ore averaged $45/ton (period values). About $67,000 of Au and Ag (period values) were produced during the period 1936-1939. Idle since 1939.
The dumps contain large quantities of sulfide-impregnated wall rock which probably constitutes low-grade ore.
