A Mn occurrence/claim located in sec. 27, T4S, R16E, MDM, about 3.6 km (2.2 miles) NNE of Quartzburg, on the divide between Burns Creek and Cotton Creek, on private land. Discovered in 1917. Owned by Brownsen Estate Ranch (100.00%), California (1978). Operated by Alexander, California (1978). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a lenticular shear zone deposit. The ore body strikes N35W and dips 75W at a thickness of 2 meters, a depth-to-top of 9 meters, a width of 20 meters and a length of 75 meters. Primary ore control was faulting. The ore zones are 3 parallel lenses, the largest of which averages 5 feet wide. Gangue is highly siliceous with stringers and bunches of limonite. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include unspecified surface openings.
Assay data: Ore is 20% Mn; 0.065% P; 4% Fe, and 55% silica.
