A former W-Cu-Mo occurrence/mine located in the center (estimated) of sec. 23 and in secs. 19 & 20, T25S, R32E, MDM, 2.9 km (1.8 miles) WNW of Alta Sierra, along Slick Rock Creek (¼ mile SE of Cedar Creek Campgrounds), on National Forest land. Operated during the periods 1916 to 1917 and 1953. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in metamorphic rock. The ore body is generally lenticular in shape at a width of 4.57 meters. The roof pendant averages 2,000 feet in width and extends 0.3 miles to the SE and 1 mile to the NW. It is composed of slate, hornfels, quartzite and limestone. The lenticular bodies alternate and are intimately mixed with migmatite. Associated rocks include diorite. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a single-compartment shaft 50 to 75 feet deep, plus a few short drifts and open cuts.
Complete production figures are not available, but since 1953 the mine has yielded a few hundred tons of ore that averaged 0.5 to 1% WO3.
