A former W-Mo mine located in the SW¼ (estimated) sec. 17, T25S, R32E, MDM, 3.1 km (1.9 miles) NNW of Alta Sierra, in the Greenhorn Summit W area, NW of Isabella, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in quartz diorite, marble, and hornfels. The ore body is irregular in form at a width of 7.62 meters. The irregular tactite zone occurs along a contact between hornblende-quartz diorite and the W side of a roof pendant of marble and hornfels. The roof pendant is 4,000 feet long and at least 500 feet wide. The contact zone is quite irregular and contains migmatite or small, irregular masses of hornblenditic quartz diorite in metasedimentary rocks. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface openings comprised of bulldozer strippings and shallow open cuts. Several thousand square feet of surface has been exposed.
Production data are found in: Troxel, Bennie Wyatt & P.K. Morton (1962).
