Roiz Mine
A former Au mine located in secs. 33 & 34, T18S, R40E, MDM, 4.7 km (ca. 3 mi) NW of Ophir Mountain (coordinates of record), on the extreme northern end of the Darwin Hills (between the Darwin Hills and the Talc City Hills; 5 miles (ca. 8 km) NW of Darwin). Property consisted of 3 claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a fissure vein deposit with a vein 2 to 5 feet (1.52 m) thick, hosted in quartz monzonite. The orebody strikes N35W and dips 50-35SW at a thickness of 1.52 meters. Controls for ore emplacement included a fault. Unoxidized quartz exhibited considerable sulfides. Local rocks include Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 2 (SE California Carbonate Assemblage).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 65-foot shaft.
No specific production record was found. A shipment of 1.5 tons to Tropico mill was said to have returned $100 (period values).

Analytical data results: Ore assayed as high as 14 ounces (ca. 529 g) Au/ton.
