A former Br-Na-B-borates mine located in sec. 10, T18S, R37E, MDM, 9.7 km (ca. 6 mi) N of Dirty Socks Spring and 10.4 km (6.46 mi) SW of Keeler, on Owens Lake, on private (patented) land. Owned & operated by the Lake Minerals Corp. (100%), California (1979-1994); then by the Owens Lake Soda Ash Co. (1994). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Note: USGS MRDS file #10187708 presents T&R data placing this occurrence in sec. 25, T18S, R26E, MDM. These data are in error since R26E would place this occurrence far to the West near Merryman, Tulare Co. The geographic coordinates provided in the same file essentially agree with those presented in MRDS file #10261065.
Mineralization is hosted in clay and mud. Local rocks include Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Workings were formerly comprised of surface operations (pit); later turned into a brine operation.
