A former Ag mine located in sec. 7 (12), T23S, R41E, MDM, 1.5 km (0.9 mile) WSW of Mountain Spring in Mountain Springs Canyon, on military reservation land (China Lake Naval Ordnance Test Station). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS file #10036151 presents T&R values placing this occurrence in sec. 12. The topo map shows it in the SE¼ of sec. 7 consistent with USGS MRDS file #10260621.
Mineralization is hosted in granite, diorite and andesite. A ledge of hematite with abundant float. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include unspecified underground openings (the topo map reflects 2 shaft symbols, 3 adit symbols and a prospect hole symbol on the N side of the canyon).
