A former Pb-Ag-Cu-Au-Zn mine located in sec. 13, T16S, R38E, MDM, 1.9 km (1.2 miles) W of Cerro Gordo, and 2.6 km (1.6 miles) W of Cerro Gordo Peak (coordinates of record) (7 miles E of Keeler). Operated during the period 1910 to 1919. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a replacement deposit hosted in Late Devonian limestone. The ore body ins lenticular in form, strikes NW and dips 70NE. Irrergular lenses occur along two well-defined fissures. Local rocks include Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 3 (SE California Clastic Assemblage) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 2 tunnels. Tunnel No. 1 is 300 feet elevation below the outcrop of the ore. No. 2 is 300 feet below No. 1 and is 600 feet long. Drifts total 2,500 feet.
Production data are found in: Goodwin, Joseph Grant (1957): 469.
No production was reported.
Assay data averaged 10% Pb, 1% Zn, 1.35% Cu, 32 ounces Ag/ton and 0.035 ounces Au/ton.
