Chipmunk claim


A former small W mine located in sec. 19, T19S, R41E, MDM, 1.6 km (1.0 mile) ESE of Darwin in Mount Diablo, 0.2 miles (ca. 322 m) S of the Fernando Mine at the bottom of a canyon. Originally owned by W.E. McCully of Darwin. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. Updated description, links, and position: N36.26495 W117.57368 by Richard Muster, courtesy Walt Margerum.

Mineralization is a W deposit hosted in calc-hornfels and tactite. Local rocks include Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 2 (SE California Carbonate Assemblage).

Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a 115-foot-long adit, several short adits, and several open cuts.
