A former Au mine located in sec. 1, T16S, R__E, MDM (? - see note), about 4.7 km (2.9 miles) N of Cerro Gordo, and coincidentally, Cerro Gordo Peak (coordinates of record), possibly on Bureau of Land Management wilderness land (Inyo Mountains Wilderness). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. Mine possibly incorporated into later development under different name(s).
NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10103477 places this location in sec. 36, T15S, R38E, MDM, while file #10212255 places it in sec. 36, T14S, R37E, MDM, in wilderness land. The geographic coordinates provided place it on the topo map, in sec. 1, T16S, R__E, MDM, in close proximity to a mine adit symbol.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with a vein 3.5 feet (1.1 meters) thick. The ore body dips vertically. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 1 (Mojave Desert and Death Valley area) and/or Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 3 (SE California Clastic Assemblage).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 350 foot adit and an 80 foot shaft.
