A former Au mine located in the NW¼ sec. 8, T10N, R11E, MDM, 1.0 km (0.6 mile) NE of Placerville proper (1 km from center of town), on private land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in Late Jurassic slate. The ore body strikes N20W and dips 74NE. The vein is 5 feet thick. The ore is free-milling with 3% pyrite. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an inclined shaft with levels at 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 750 feet. A 350 foot winze was sunk from the 750 foot level. There are 5,500 feet of drifts.
