A gypsum-anhydrite occurrence located in sec. 21, T11N, R18E, MDM, 4.2 km (2.6 miles) WSW of Mount Thompson (coordinates of record) and 8.3 km (5.2 miles) SS of Meyers, NE of Big Meadow and E of Big Meadow Creek (9.5 miles S of Lake Tahoe), on National Forest land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a sedimentary gypsum deposit hosted in andesite. The ore body is irregular. Thin interbeds of gypsum occur with disseminated pyrite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
