A former lode Au mine located in the NE¼ sec. 28, T12N, R10E, MDM, 1.3 km (0.8 mile) NNW of Garden Valley (Kelsey District), on the divide between Coloma Canyon and Manhattan Creek. The property comprises 17 acres. Operated intermittently during the period 1914 to 1927. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Logan (1934) shows location in the N½SE¼ of the section.
Mineralization is a Au seam deposit with flat Au-bearing seams in amphibolite. Geology includes decomposed igneous rocks in Mariposa slate, probably amphibolite schist. Coarse Au found in quartz and in arsenopyrite in a series of seams. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings with a length of 42.67 meters, comprised of a 60-foot shaft with drifts and an incline. A 2-stamp mill was erected. Initial development was on the surface.
No production record was found. A small tonnage of ore was produced.
