A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the SE¼SW¼ sec. 17, T10N, R10E, MDM, about 5 km E of Rescue (3 miles NE of Shingle Springs; 5 miles W of Placerville), on private land. Operated by Josie G. Pine (life estate) C/O J. C. Pine, et al. Operated during the period 1900 to 1904. Prospected in 1936. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in amphibolite and schist. Pyrite is disseminated. All Au occurs in sulfides. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains) and/or pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 150 foot crosscut adit.
