A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the NE¼SE¼ sec. 18, T9N, R10E, MDM, 0.7 km (0.4 mile) S of Frenchtown and 3.7 km (2.3 miles) SSE of Shingle Springs, on private land. Operated prior to 1890, during the early 1890's, and during the period 1937 to 1940. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit in the West Gold Belt, hosted in schist and amphibolite. The ore body strikes N and dips 42E at a thickness of 3.66 meters. The vein is irregular, with an ore shoot 8 to 24 feet in width and up to 280 feet long on the 326 foot level. Controls for ore emplacement included deposition of vein material into cracks and cavities due to disruption by intrusions to the W. Gabbrodiorite lies to the W. Quartz crystals occur in cavities. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 250 foot inclined shaft and a 1,028 foot adit driven N, plus a 480 foot inclined winze sunk from the adit 328 feet from its portal, with levels at 200, 326 and 456 feet.

The ore carried up to $11 (period values) per ton of Au.
