A former Mn occurrence/mine located in the NE¼NE¼SW¼ sec. 16, T11S, R21E, SBM, 7.8 km (4.8 miles) WSW of Paymaster Landing and 9.0 km (5.6 miles) E of Midway Well, on state owned land (state lease). Discovered in 1913. First Production was in 1955. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in Pliocene andesite. The ore body strikes N30W and dips vertical at a width of 0.91 meter. A series of fissure veins of manganese oxide occur in andesitic breccia. The veins strike N30W and are vertical at 1 to 3 feet wide. Local rocks include Tertiary volcanic flow rocks, unit 15 (Southern Mojave Desert).
Workings include surface and underground openings.
No ore has been produced.
