A former W-Mo-Cu-Bi mine located in the NE¼ (estimated) sec. 22, T12S, R27E, MDM, 7.9 km (4.9 miles) NE of Crabtree, between Rodgers Ridge and the Kings River (10 miles from the mouth of the North Fork Kings River), on National Forest land. Produced during the period 1940-1945. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in marble. The ore body has a depth-to-top of 18.29 meters. Tactite occurs at the N end of a marble pendent 1 mile long and ¼ mile wide. The principal ore bodies are at a granodiorite contact beneath flat pegmatite dikes, within 400 feet of the N tip of the pendent. The marble beds strike N30W. They curve near the end of the pendent to N50E and dip 60-80SE. The marble pendent is in granodiorite. Associated rocks include the diorite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or limestone of probable Paleozoic or Mesozoic age.
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 76.2 meters and comprised of 3 cuts, 4 adits and several intermediate drifts with a combined length of 1,000 feet. Also, a number of short raises were driven.
Analytical data results: 0.7 to 1.0% WO3.
