A former lode Au mine located in the NW¼ (estimated) sec. 3, T2N, R13E, MDM, 1.4 km (0.9 mile) SE of Angels Camp, between Sixmile Creek and Indian Creek, E of highway 49. Patented agricultural land. Dump operated recently for road rock. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. On the Mother Lode.
Mineralization is hosted in greenstone and slate. The ore body strikes W and dips 35N at 15 feet thick (Vista vein) of quartz and calcite. It has a greenstone footwall & slate hanging wall. The Mother Lode vein attitude is N340W, 65NE, at 16 feet thick. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 350 foot inclined shaft (52 degrees) with levels each 100 feet. There are 1,350 feet of drifts and crosscuts intersecting both veins.
Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & P.A. Lydon (1962).
One 2,500 ton lot of ore averaged $7 (period values) per ton Au. Most production was from the Vista vein, but one crosscut to the Mother Lode vein averaged $4 (period values) Au/ton.
