A former lode Au mine located in the SW¼ (estimated) sec. 27, T5N, R13E, MDM, about 3.35 km N of Mountain Ranch, N of Murray Creek (10 miles ESE of Mokelumne Hill). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate. The ore body strikes NW and dips NE at a thickness of 0.91 meter. A 1 to 3 foot thick vein is intersected by a N-striking, E-dipping vein. The quartz is a ribbon rock. The vein walls are a dark, siliceous slate. The ore occurs in kidneys with a very small amount of pyrite. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 200 foot shaft and a 640 foot adit.
