A former Au-Pb-Sb-Cu mine located in the SE¼ sec. 35, T6N, R12E, MDM, 1.1 km (0.7 mile) ESE of Rich Gulch (town), and 6 miles E of Mokelumne Hill (2½ miles SW of Glenco). Operated during the periods of the 1850s and 1860s to the 1890s, 1935 to 1943, and 1945 to 1948. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist and plutonic rock. The ore body strikes N70-85E and dips 85S. There are at least 7 parallel veins with strike from N70 to 85E, and steeply dipping. The main vein is the Ilex in the center of the vein system. Country rock is coarse schist and impure quartzite with granodiorite gneiss to the N. Diorite dikes are associated with the veins. Local rocks include Palaeozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a 270-foot shaft, both inclined and vertical, plus a 100-foot drift. There is an adit on the Ilex vein with several shorter drifts on other veins. There are also numerous open cuts.
Local structures include diorite dikes associated with veins.
Production data are found in: Clark (1962).
