A placer Au-PGE (Pt) occurrence/mine located in secs. 21 & 22, T3N, R10E, MDM, 1.0 km (0.7 mile) WNW of Jenny Lind. Operated operated intermittently during the period 1904 to 1915, 1917 and probably intermittently until at least 1941. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
In 1925 the El Oro Dredging Company had finished its ground near Jenny Lind and operations were continued on the Calaveras River at Jenny Lind by the Isabel dredge.
Gravel depth is about 20 feet.Local rocks include Miocene nonmarine rocks and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Tailings symbols preent on the topo map in these sections. A few ounces of Pt were recovered annually from gold dredging in the Calaveras River near Jenny Lind. The largest yield was 54 ounces ($2,433 - period values) in 1917. No Pt produced since 1941.
