A former lode Au mine located in the NE¼ sec. 10, T2N, R13E, MDM, about 3.35 km (2.2 miles) S of Angels Camp, W of Albany Flat. Discovered in 1885. Operated until about 1896. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in amphibolite, slate and schist. The ore body strikes N45W and dips 55E and/or NE at a thickness of 3.66 meters. The vein isd 8 to 12 feet thick with a parallel vein to the E. At the surface the vein dips 55E in black slate but a short distance from surface it becomes nearly horizontal and enters a hard, splintery diabase. A rich pocket, worth several thousand dollars (period values) was encountered where the vein assumes a horizontal position. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of 2 shafts at 45 and 60 feet deep plus a crosscut adit and an open cut.
