A former lode Au-Pb mine located in the NW¼ sec. 35, T6N, R12E, MDM, 0.5 km (0.3 mile) NNE of Rich Gulch (town) (6 miles NE of Mokelumne Hill (town) on the SE slope above the Mokelymne River). Property was comprised of 8 unpatented claims. Operated prior to, and from 1924 to 1934. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in granodiorite and slate. The ore body strikes NE
and dips SE at a thickness of 3.66 meters. The vein is 4 to 12 feet thick with 3 additional minor veins, striking N and dipping W, which average 4 feet in thickness. The footwall is porphyry and the hanging wall is granodiorite in the upper workings and slate in the lower workings. Sulfides are present. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 2 crosscut tunnels driven southward into the vein, 175 & 425 feet in length, and called levels No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. There is a 500 foot drift westward on the No. 2 level and a 400 foot drift east. 2 raises were driven from No. 2 level to the surface.
