A former Au-Zn-Pb mine located in secs. 20 & 21, T4N, R13E, MDM, about 5 km ENE of Calaveritas (in Old Gulch, 3 miles SW of Mountain Ranch). Property consisted of an unpatented claim. Operated during the period 1896 to 1901. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. The ore body strikes N68W and dips 80NE at a thickness of 2.13 meters. The vein is 2 feet to 7 feet thick with black slate on the hanging wall and mica schist on the footwall. The vein is comprised of stratified/banded quartz with pyrite, galena and sphalerite. A thin dike, heavy with sulfides, accompanies the vein. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 73.15 meters and an overall depth of 39.62 meters, and comprised of a 90 foot and a 150 foot drift adits.
