A Au occurrence located in the W½NW¼ sec. 23, T24N, R3E, MDM, 1.4 km (4,700 feet) NE of Forks of Butte, along Butte Creek. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. A quartz vein to 4 feet wide strikes N30W and dips 50E in slate. A second vein 4 feet wide strikes N85E and dips 75N in slate. Local rocks include Paleozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 3 (Northwestern Sierra Nevada).
Workingsd include surface and underground openings comprised of a 40 foot incline on the vein, an adit to the vein, and drifts driven during the period 1914-1917 plus numerous pits and trenches.
Assay data results: Vein samples assayed 0.07-0.21 ounces/ton Au. Deposit shows limited promise.
