A former lode Au-Pb mine located in the NE¼ sec. 32, T7N, R12E, MDM, 1.7 km (1.0 mile) NW of Pine Grove, on private land. Owned by Claude Hanley (1953). Operated during the period 1935 to 1941. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. The property was a small prospect prior to 1935 and worked continuously from 1935 to 1941. Idle since that time.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate. The ore body strikes E and dips N. The quartz veins vary in thickness from 8 to 14 feet. Several N-striking stringers branch from the main vein. Pocket Au typical of this claim. Free Au is associated with sulfides. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an inclined shaft 157 feet deep, where it intersects the main ore shoot. Another inclined shaft is 200 feet deep with 200 feet of drifts at its base. There are/were a number of buildings remaining on the property but all equipment had been removed.
Production data are found in: Carlson, D.W. & W.B. Clark (1954).
Reported production was $314,000 (period values).
