A clay occurrence located in secs. 23 & 24, T6N, R9E, MDM, 1.5 km (0.9 mile) WNW of Ione, W of the W end of the airstrip runway. Operated by the State Of Claifornia, Preston School Of Industry. Formerly operated by W. D. Amick and the Philadelphia Quartz Co. Operated during WWI. Idle now. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is sandy clay which was washed to produce China clay and glass sand. Local rocks include Eocene nonmarine rocks, unit 1 (Northern and Central California).
Workings include surface openings comprised of an open pit.
