A Mn occurrence located 5.3 km (3.3 miles) W of Stonyford, along a S-flowing tributary of Stony Creek, near the Glenn County line (near the boundary between Glenn and Colusa Counties on the crest of a narrow ridge running down to the S at an elevation of 1600 feet. The mine is about 1 mile N of the diversion dam on Big Stony Creek), on National Forest land. Owned by E. J. Hansen. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

NOTE: The relationship of this occurrence to the Big Stoney Creek Mine (Rockridge), Sugarloaf Hill, Coastal Range, Glenn County is not known. The latter is documented as being 0.8 km (2,600 feet) NE of the Colusa County locality. The two localities may be synonymous or one may be a sub- or co-locality of the other.

The ore body strikes N30W and dips 30NE. Manganiferous chert strikes N30W and dips 30NE. Individual small specimens might run 45% Mn, but any quantity of this material is doubtful. Manganese ore occurs as narrow pockets in massive red to yellow-brown chert. Pockets are generally a fraction of an inch up to a few inches thick. The ore consists of black oxides, mainly psilomelane, and some neotocite (?). Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 1 (Coast Ranges).

Workings include surface openings comprised of a 30 foot long open cut.
