Au, Ag, Cu mine in Horobetsu, Shiraoi and Osari-bawa Formation.
Started in 1898, closed in 1973.
It was recorded that 0.3 to 0.4 tons of Cu with Au, Ag was refined per a day in 1912.
There are two major adits as follows:
Iwagasaki adit :
Approx. 12km NNW from central Horobetsu town.
Mainly, chalcopyrite and pyrite (rarely, baryte, bornite) in quartz vein were mined.
Asahi adit :
Approx. 5km NW from Iwagasaki adit.
Mainly, Au ore was mined.
(Not to be confused with the Horobetsu sulphur mine in neighbouring Soubetsu town!)
