The Moccasin Gap Mine is an abandoned grouping of trenches, pits, and adits located atop a ridge to the west of TN 107, near Del Rio, TN. As of 2018, three entrances provided access to underground workings. One of the entrances ran little more than 15' down at a 45 degree slope until reaching standing water. The other two entrances are not flooded and are more extensive. They are located within a few hundred feet of one another and are both recessed in rather eroded pits.
The site is best accessed by driving north on TN 107, after turning off of US 25/70. After a mile or so of driving along 107, a small gravel parking area can be seen on the left side of the road. From that parking area, an old roadbed, which is rather overgrown, can be followed to the base of the mountain which the mine sits on.
