Alteration: Argillic; Silicification. Matrix Is Altered To Advanced Argillic Or Phyllic Stage In Places
Deposit: A resistant silicified vein will outcrop projects north to northeast of the shaft collar. Wallrocks show bleaching, clay alteration, iron-staining and fracturing adjacent to the vein. Dump sample consists of cockscomb quartz vein material and altered host rock. The rocks contain fine-grained oxidized pyrite and limonite after pyrite is common. Shaft lies on ne-striking contact of older porphyritic andesite and overlying lithic crystal rhyolite tuff. Vein contained milling ore with very high-grade telluride-rich streaks. "a body of talc ore"
Deposit type: Epithermal vein, Comstock
Development: No activity at time of examination in 1983
Geology: Some rocks are thoroughly silicified and show veinlets and clots of vitreous grey silica. A few samples of altered tuffaceous material noted, consisting of punky kaolinitic material
